Anita Lorraine Bastian, 91, formerly of Robesonia, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2016, of natural causes in her Phoebe Berks Village residence. Born March 2, 1925, in Maxatawny Twp., Berks Co., she was a daughter of the late Herbert T. & Mary A. (Kohler) Christman. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Robesonia. She was the widow of the late Rev. Edwin P. Bastian, who died August 18, 1997. Part of the Greatest Generation, Anita valued faith, family and friends.  Raised on a subsistence farm, she learned the value of hard work, integrity and kindness. During WWII she was riveting airplane wings before marrying a wounded veteran. Her heart possessed an equilibrium many envy but few achieve. She was Barefoot Contessa and Martha Stewart wrapped into one.  Making Thanksgiving dinner for a dozen people was no challenge. Not only adept at stuffing peppers and cabbage leaves, she could stuff a pig’s stomach as well. As children we learned to cook, clean house and do the laundry. She was the best mother a kid could have. She is survived by Daughters: Pamela, w/o Dr. John Freehafer, Phoenixville, PA, Cynthia, w/o Charles Duncan dec, Talmadge, OH Sons: Rev. Edwin P. Bastian, Jr. and wife Rev. Elina Salonen, Elmira, ON, Canada, Donald M. Bastian and wife Yvonne Cousino, Greensboro, NC, Steven J. Bastian and Sharon Kistler, Hamburg, PA, Jonathan K. Bastian, Stevensville, VA, Sister: Carole Koch, 14 Grandchildren, 28 Great-grandchildren and 7 Great-great grandchildren, Predeceased by siblings: Janetta Metz, Mary A. Dries, Dorothy Phillips, Gladys Bleiler, Lester Christman, Paul Christman, Carl Christman and David Christman.
