Dorothy W. (Hall) Smith

Dorothy W. Smith, 84, of Newmanstown, formerly of Levittown, for 42 years, passed away in the late afternoon hours, Friday, February 3, 2017, of natural causes in her residence. She was the widow of Thomas G. Smith, who passed away August 17, 2010. Born November 13, 1932, in Wilkes Barre, Luzerne Co., she was a daughter of the late J. Edgar & Ann (nee’ Kingston) Hall. She was a graduate of Coughlin High School, where she loved being a member of the a capella choir.  Dorothy and her husband loved to dance, especially the polka and jitterbug.  She also was an accomplished roller skater. Dorothy was a homemaker and was always fun loving and was known for her hospitality and cooking while raising her family.  For the past 12 years, while living in Newmanstown, her neighbors were a very important part of her life. She is survived by her children: Karen E. Beem, wife of Richard H. Beem Sr., Thomason G., husband of Kimberly A. Smith, Bruce W., husband of Eileen Smith, and Donald A., husband of Stephanie R. Smith; her siblings: William K., husband of Marion Hall, and Lillian H., wife of Frank Sypniewski; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren also survive. She was predeceased by her siblings: Edgar Hall and Elizabeth Ann George; and by her granddaughter, Melissa Smith. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, February 9, 2017, at Noon, in the Chapel of Peace at Sunset Memorial Park, 333 W. County Line Rd., Huntington Valley, PA 19006, with the Rev. William A. Pifer-Foote, officiating.  Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum.  Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, February 8, 2017, from 6 – 8 PM at the Mull Funeral Home, 27 E. High St., Womelsdorf, PA  19567, and Thursday, from 11 AM until time of service at the Chapel of Peace. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org or to the Muscular Dystrophy Association at www.mda.org or to a charity of one's choice in memory of Dottie.
