Edith V. Schaeffer, 85, formerly of Bernville and Womelsdorf, and a current resident of Berks Heim, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, on Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at the Reading Hospital.

Born March 2, 1927, in Lower Heidelberg Twp., she was the daughter of the late William T. & Mary (Zickler) Gilbert.

A 1945 graduate of Wilson High School, she had worked for Caron, the Bernville Shoe Factory, and last for Post Precision Castings, Strausstown.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Womelsdorf.  She loved to walk in Womelsdorf and Grings Mill.  She also loved swimming, sunbathing, basketball, tennis, the 76ers, bowling, and reading Danielle Steel books.

A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by her children: Beverly J. Schaeffer, Wyomissing and Sherry L., wife of Jeffrey Klick, Womelsdorf; her grandchildren: Chad Klick and Kris, husband of Jamie Klick; her former spouse, George Schaeffer; several nieces and nephews; and by her “great grand dogs”, Jerry and Cali, and her “great grand cat”, Cheddar.

She was predeceased by her siblings: John Gilbert, Ruth Johnson, William Gilbert, and Emerson Gilbert.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, February 10, 2013, at 3 PM, from Zion Lutheran Church, 300 West High Street, Womelsdorf, PA  19567.  The family will greet family and friends following the service in the social hall of the church.

So sorry to hear about Edie. I worked with her at Post Precision. She was a blast and I will always consider her a friend! See you on the other side Edie and we will laugh again!
