Thelma Bright Obituary

Thelma Irene (Angstadt) Bright, 80, of Robesonia, passed away in her home after a long illness on March 4, 2024.

She was the wife of Robert H. Bright with whom she was married for 60 years.

Born in Reading, Thelma was the daughter of the late Luther and Hilda (Snyder) Angstadt.

She was a 1961 graduate of Oley High School where she worked and met her future husband.

Thelma loved her church family and was a devoted member of St. Daniel’s Lutheran Church where she served on numerous committees. She was a former library volunteer, served as a Girl Scout Leader, and worked as a secretary for the County of Berks, retiring from the Conservation District and earlier working for the D.A.’s office.

Thelma was a committed wife, mother, and grandmother who was hard-working and humble. She was an excellent baker, a thrifty recycler, and hostess to many family picnics up on the hill. For many years, she kept a large garden which supported her canning habit. She was happiest at home, working outside or reading the Bible.

In addition to her husband Robert, she is survived by sons Steven Bright (husband of Amy) and Kenneth Bright (husband of Wendy) both of Robesonia, PA, and daughter Terri Bright of Greenville, SC.  Also surviving are three grandchildren Megan, Madison, and Harper Bright; and siblings Betty Heck, Anna Yanos, Erma Miller, Janet Levan, Larry Angstadt, and Curtis Angstadt. She was pre-deceased by her sister Jean Hoffman.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, March 10th at 1:30PM at St. Daniel’s Lutheran Church, Robesonia; Order of Eastern Star Service to be held at 1:00PM in the social hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Daniel’s Lutheran Church Capital Maintenance Fund, 480 Big Spring Road, Robesonia, PA 19551.
