Gerald G Schwartz

Gerald G. Schwartz, 82, of Myerstown, passed away in the afternoon hours Saturday, August 11, 2018, of natural causes in the Reading Hospital. He was the husband of MaryAnn (nee’ McAllister) Schwartz. Born April 9, 1936, in West Reading, he was a son of the late Harry & Annie (nee’ Hoffman) Schwartz. A 1954 Graduate of Womelsdorf High School, he had worked for the former Bank of Pennsylvania, Womelsdorf Branch, from 1954-1969.  He had retired from the former Meridian Bank in 1990. He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, Womelsdorf, and had served in the US Army. Gerry enjoyed golfing, playing cards with friends, and spending time with family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Mitchell S. Schwartz, Steven R. Schwartz, and Debra L. (Richard) Smith; his stepdaughters: Carole Lynn (John T.) McGarry & Sharon L. (David M.) Ziegler; his grandchildren: Ashley R. Schwartz, Aleea K. Schwartz, Brianna (Anthony) Renalli, Evan R. McGarry, Connor P. McGarry, Shane T. McGarry, Kyle J. Ziegler, Dylen J. Ziegler, & Michael Smith and his brother: William D. (Marian) Schwartz. He was predeceased by his siblings: Donald R. Schwartz, Kathryn Meiser, & Mae Brooks. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at 3 PM at Zion United Church of Christ, 12 S. 2ndSt., Womelsdorf, PA  19567, with the Rev. June E. Bair, officiating. Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, from 2 PM until time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to his church at the above address.
