Quentin A. Gettel, 86, of Tulpehocken Twp., passed away in the morning hours Tuesday, October 9, 2018, of natural causes in Penn State Health – St. Joseph, Bern Twp. He was the husband of Marie E. (nee’ DeLong) Gettel. They recently celebrated 62 years of marriage. Born July 30, 1932, in Rehrersburg, he was a son of the late Paul A. & M. Margaret (nee’ Hoffa) Gettel. A graduate of Womelsdorf High School, he was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Rehrersburg, where he served on church consistory, and was a Sunday School Teacher. He was also a member of: Williamson Lodge # 307 F&AM, Womelsdorf; Reading Consistory; Rajah Shrine; Lt. Colonel Max Schaeffer post 6558, VFW, Womelsdorf ; Grundsow Lodge 12, Shartlesville; and was involved in may other civic organizations. He was the owner & operator of Quentin A. Gettel, Inc, Student Transportation Serivce for the Tulpehocken School District for 30 years. and was also the second generation owner of The Gettel Press, Rehrersburg. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Sharon F. Gettel, Harrisburg & William P. (Stacy) Gettel, Tulpehocken Twp; his grandchildren: Meredith L. (Eli) Edgerly, Maryland & Cameron J. (Alicia)Gettel, Rhode Island; and his great granddaughters: Amelia Q. & Elliette G. Edgerly. Graveside services in Trinity UCC Cemetery, Rehrersburg, will be at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at Trinity United Church of Christ, 27 Maria St., Rehrersburg, on Sunday, October 28, 2018, at 1:30 PM.
