The Rev. Lars B Staaby

The Rev. Lars B. Staaby, 97, of Womelsdorf, passed away in the morning hours Tuesday, November 6, 2018 in Stone Ridge, Poplar Run, Myerstown. He was the husband of the late Helen L. (nee’ Brem) Staaby, who died September 22, 2011. Born December 31, 1920, in Flekkefjord, Norway, he was a son of the late Nils & Sofie (nee’ Berthelsen) Staaby. Rev. Staaby was ordained in 1958 and had served various Lutheran Parishes in Ashland, PA, Epiphany Lutheran Church, Temple, and had retired from Christ Lutheran Church, Stouchsburg. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Womelsdorf. Rev. Staaby had served in the Norwegian Merchant Marines and the US Army during WWII. He is survived by his children: Lars B. Staaby, Jr., Enola and David L. (Susan) Staaby, Womelsdorf; and his grandchildren: Dr. Mary (Sean) Steinmann, Alice Staaby, & David L. (Aislinn) Staaby II.  He was predeceased by his son Eric R. Staaby. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 10, 2018, at 11 AM from Zion Lutheran Church, 300 W. High St., Womelsdorf, with the Rev. June E. Bair & Rev. J. Robert Kehrli, officiating.  Burial will follow in Zion Lutheran & Reformed Cemetery, Womelsdorf. Relatives and friends may call Friday, November 9, 2018, from 5 - 8 PM and Saturday from 9:30 AM until time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to his church, Zion Lutheran Church, 300 W.
