Barbara L. (Ruth) Batdorf Hartranft

Barbara L. Hartranft, 95, of Womelsdorf, passed away Sunday evening, March 15, 2026, at Maidencreek Place, Reading. She was the widow of Richard R. Batdorf, who passed away February 27, 1979, and Robert L. Hartranft, who passed away January 16, 2014. Born August 2, 1930, in Heidelberg Township, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Margaret (Weidner) Ruth. Barbara was a 1948 graduate of Womelsdorf High School. She and her late husband, Richard, owned and operated the former Tulpehocken Co-op. She later worked in the advertising department for the former AWI in Robesonia. She was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church, Womelsdorf. Barbara was deeply rooted in her community. She was a member of the Womelsdorf VFW and the Womelsdorf Rod and Gun Club, the Womelsdorf Fire Company Social Quarters and she played an instrumental role in the establishment of the Womelsdorf Community Pool and auxiliary. She found her greatest joy in time spent with her family and friends, especially her beloved great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed bowling, reading, sharing a good cup of coffee, cheering on her Phillies and Eagles, indulging in her fondness for sweets and the occasional beer on ice! She is survived by her children, Kevin C. Batdorf and his wife, Jane, and Bonnie J. Fulkerson and her husband, William; her stepchildren, Dru R. Hopkins and her fiance, Dayna Estrada, and Chris Hartranft and his wife, Gina; her grandchildren, Ryan (Melissa) Batdorf, Gregory (Sara) Fulkerson, Kristi (Daniel) Csencsitz, and Kati (Michael) Prudente; her step-grandchildren, Shea, Michael, Gabriel, and Zachary; and 10 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at The Mull Funeral Home, Womelsdorf, PA, with the Rev. June E. Wann, officiating. Visitation will be held between 10:00 and 11:00. Burial in Heidelberg Cemetery will take place immediately after the service. The family will provide the flowers for the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 300 W. High Street, Womelsdorf, PA 19567 or to the Womelsdorf Community Library, 203 W. High Street, Womelsdorf, PA 19567. The Mull Funeral Home, Womelsdorf, is entrusted with the arrangements.
