Gary F. Reed

Gary F. Reed, age 85, of Wernersville passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at his residence.

He was the loving husband of 62 years to Barbara A. (Himmelberger) Reed. They were high school sweethearts and married on May 28, 1960. 

Born in Bethel on August 6, 1937 the son of the late Ralph F. and Violet E. (Hartz) Reed.

He was a 1955 graduate of Ontelaunee High School and proudly served in the U.S Army Reserves for 6 years.

Gary worked at the Polymer Corp. for 34 years retiring in 1997 and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He worked for Wilson School District as a School Bus Driver from 1998 to 2008. He also was a volunteer at the Berks County Heritage Center giving tours of the Gruber Wagon Works.

He was a member of Bern Reformed U.C.C. where he and Barbara were Fundraiser Chairpersons for many years.

Gary was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed creating cards on the computer and traveling.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Kevin M. Reed, of California, and Chris A. Reed husband of Tina, of Wernersville; two grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Reed and Brent Michael Reed; a sister, Patricia wife of Robert Rogers, of Reading; and several nieces & nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Pearl Heckman.

The family will receive friends on Saturday February, 25, 2023 from 10:00 to 11:00am at Bern Reformed U.C.C., 3196 Bernville Rd., Leesport, PA 19533 with Memorial Service following at 11:00am.

Cole Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Robesonia is handling arrangements.
