Obituary

Richard M. Mell, age 62, of Womelsdorf passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at his residence.

Born in Reading on July 25, 1960 the son of the late Donald C. Mell, Sr. and Barbara A. (Gaidos) Coco, who survives.

He was a 1978 graduate of Muhlenberg High School, earned his English Degree from Albright College, his Master of Education from Kutztown University, and was a proud member of both Alumni Associations.

Richard retired from East Stroudsburg School District as an English Teacher and Head of the English Department, where he also headed the school theater program for over 20 years.

Richard was a Lay Reader at Christ Episcopal Church in Stroudsburg, PA where he participated for multiple years.

In addition to his mother, Barbara, he is also survived by three brothers, Scott R. Mell husband of Cindy, Mark P. Mell husband of Paul Moyer, and Donald C. Mell, Jr. husband of Kim; one niece; one nephew; and many great nieces & nephews.

A private burial will take place at Charles Evans Cemetery.

Cole Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Robesonia is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Animal Rescue League, 58 Kennel Rd., Birdsboro, PA 19508 or to the Humane Society of Berks County, 1801 N. 11th St., Reading, PA 19604.
