It is with great sadness that the family of Wilmer F. "Cy" Brobst announces his passing at the age of 83.
Born in Reading on November 4, 1937 a son of the late Leon W. and Elsie M. (Leininger) Brobst.
He was a 1956 graduate of Reading High School and proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1960.
Retired as activity director from the Olivet Boys Club after 29 years and forever touching and changing numerous lives of the youth he mentored.
After his retirement he served as a security guard at Phoebe Berks in Wernersville, a flooring technician for Strawbridge & Clothier at the Berkshire Mall, the Denver Nursing Home and Elk Roofing Shingles in Myerstown.
He was a quiet, heartfelt man who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life including spending time with his grandchildren. Numerous family cruises and vacations were shared which often included long time family friend Katie Fehr. Eight years ago, with the love of his family surrounding him he had triple heart bypass surgery which allowed him to live an independent life and meet his granddaughters.
A talented bowler in numerous leagues and bowling clubs around the county, having the thrill of bowling a 300 perfect game.
Earlier in his life he was an avid fan of auto racing and spent most of his free time enjoying the races at Fairgrounds where he rooted for Tobias. Later he came to enjoy Nascar racing and spent many hours watching races with his children and had many discussions with Brandon about who was the better driver.
He is survived by three children, Stephanie M. wife of Nicholas Zoga, Ashley E. Brobst, and Brandon C. Brobst; two grandchildren, Veda and Piper; and his former wife, Tracy wife of Jonathan Evans.
Services will be privately held.
