Barbara Ann Shelton VanHorn, 63, of Womelsdorf, passed away in the early afternoon hours, Sunday, January 1, 2017, of natural causes in Manor Care Sinking Spring. She was the wife of Edward A. VanHorn. Born August 5, 1953, in Reading, she was a daughter of Mildred I. (Fetter) Shelton, of Grill, and the late Ronald W. Shelton. Barb had recently retired as a nurse, having worked for the Reading Health System.  She loved her work, children, and animals.  She was a member of Christ (Yocum’s) Lutheran Church, Grill, the Womelsdorf Fire Co., Pioneer Hose Co., Robesonia, and the Riverside Beneficial Assn. In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her daughter: Michelle, wife of Keith Hall; her son: Steven Bortz, husband of Amy; her step daughters: Carolyn, wife of Phil Krick, and Melissa, wife of Nick Hinsey; her siblings: Bruce Shelton, husband of Diane, and Bonnie Tobias; and her grandchildren: Julia Hall, Mason Hinsey, and Emily Hinsey. She was predeceased by an infant son, and her brother, Barry Shelton. Services will be held Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at 1 PM from Christ (Yocum’s) Lutheran Church, 840 Philadelphia Ave., Reading, PA  19607, with the Rev. Kenneth Wiest, officiating. Interment will follow in Christ (Yocum’s) Lutheran Church Cemetery, Grill.  Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, from Noon until time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Womelsdorf Fire Co., 20 N.
